Click To Enlarge The Product Business Unit (BU) is one of the most unique BUs in the Technology Line of Business of HCL with expertise in Software Product Engineering. Having approximate employee strength of 60, the BU provides a cross-platform GUI Development tool for Application Development and Embedded Development.

The Product BU organizes quarterly meeting called PRO'SEEDZ� with an objective to plan for the future, analyze the past performance, and reward the pool of talent, for the present.

The event christens itself with the combination of two words - "Product", the BU name and "Seeds" as the motive behind the event - to seed and plan ahead.

At the outset of PRO'SEEDZ� held on 22-Dec-05, the Product BU Head, Shailesh Kumar Gupta gave an overview of the Structure of the Business Unit. He described the overall structure of the Business Unit as divided into Horizontals and Verticals. His vision, on the upcoming developments and challenges were brought into focus with an elaborate and concrete plan, so that the Product scales new heights.

The meeting was then carried forward by Sujatha G, who described the Presenter Product Release along with inherent features like Web browser widget, Floating Toolbar, 24 Bit Color Palette etc. She also gave an insight into upcoming releases like Presenter 5.2 on Mac.

On similar lines, Sheetal Golgahte carried forward the meet with an insight into the EmPresent Product Release. Infact, he threw light on the latest release 3.11.11, having an enhancement - color model used to support LCD and TV. He also spoke about the upcoming release 3.12.12 with Unicode support for Asia Pacific languages viz. Chinese, Japanese, and Korean.

An insight into the Product Business Unit's initiatives for Quality Assurance was presided over by Deepankar Bhardwaj. He, along with Shruti Saxena also went on to elaborate on the Product Consulting/Professional services for leading partners in Chinese, Japanese and European markets. The Customer Support Operations for different local support timings in US, Japan, Europe and Rest of the World were also elaborated.

Gautam Ahuja then explained about the BU's new initiative "SAHAS", to orient and equip the students from the Campus. He also mentioned the activities of the Marketing Cell whereby a lot of things like Trade-shows, Email campaigns, websites and competitor analysis are done. The IP Cell was also mentioned for the technology incubation, identification and construction of re-usable components, conferences and product enhancement.

The meeting was then concluded with a Training Convocation and an open-house, followed by an interactive session hosted by Pranav and Shweta.
